Erskine J. Farley

    NORTH SALEM -- Erskine J. Farley died July 23 at his home in North Salem. He was 75.

    A son of Adison Craig Farley and Ellen Shrewsbury, he was born July 26, 1925, in Killarney, W.Va.

    Mr. Farley graduated from Stucco High School in Rhodell, W.Va., and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Before retiring in 1991, he had worked 27 years as a punch press operator for Carrier Corp. Heating and Cooling, formerly known as Bryants.

    He was a member of first Assembly of God Church in Danville.

    Survivors include his wife, Freda P. Farley; children Craig Farley of Chickapee, Mass., Kenneth Farley of Columbus, Glenn Farley of Roachdale, Timothy Farley of North Salem and Robin Brooks of Barnard; brothers Gene Farley of Indianapolis, A.C. Farley Jr. of Indianapolis, Larry Farley of Beckley, W.Va., and James Farley of Beckley, W.Va.; sisters Vada McCarry of Gladsdin, Ala., Claudia Hanna of Bedford, Freda Barton of Corbin, Ky., and Betty Cox of Sophia, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Preceding him in death were half-brothers Paul and Delbert Farley and a half-sister, June Farley.
