ARNETT - Billy Joe Farley, 69, of Arnett, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2003 at
home following a long illness.
Born July 5, 1933 in Glen View, he was the son of the late Jennings Bryant
Farley and Pina Ruth Farley.
Mr. Farley faithfully served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He
earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National
Defense Medal. He was honorably discharged May 4, 1954.
He lived most of his life in Arnett where he was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He retired as an auto mechanic, and enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and
horseshoes in his retirement.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Homer Farley; and a sister, Kathleen
Farley.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Norma L. Honaker Farley; four
children, Toni and her husband, Randy Pack, of Rock Creek, Terri Farley of
Arnett, Teddy Farley and his wife, Annetta, of Weston, and Traci and her
husband, John L. Lewis, Jr., of Helen; a brother, Page Farley and his wife,
Rosalie, of Sullivan; a sister, Shelby Jean Fitzhugh and her husband, Pete, of
Martinsburg; two grandchildren, Billy Joe "B.J." and Michelle Farley;
two step-grandchildren, John L. "Trey" III and Erin Lewis; and several
brothers-and-sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Gilbert
Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Billy Joe "B.J." Farley, Trey Lewis III, John L.
Lewis, Jr., Randy Pack, Vernon Honaker, and Jimmy D. Lucas, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Teddy L. Farley, Oma Milam, Jr. and Jarvis
Williams.
